Forest City Science + Technology Group is committed to creating projects that help advance research, build communities and enhance our corporate citizenship. No matter what project we undertake, we work closely with neighborhood residents and leadership to create a master plan that will address all concerns, including urban design and open space, zoning and infrastructure, and traffic mitigation.
It is our goal that all of our projects contribute significantly to local economic development by facilitating new jobs and increasing the local tax base. In addition, Forest City employees add to the quality of life in the cities in which they live through charitable contributions, partnership programs with local schools and charities, and volunteer service on the boards of many local social services agencies.
Forest City's Community involvement includes:
- Community Day - A nation wide initiative where Forest City employees take a day out of their work week to volunteer in the local community.
- Avon Walk for Breast Cancer - The Illinois Science + Technology Park sponsors a rest stop for the 30 mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago.
- Blood Drives - University Park at MIT in Cambridge sponsors a blood drive for tenants and employees for the American Red Cross.
- Horizon House Golf Tournament - The Translational Research Lab project at the University of Pennsylvania sponsors a golf tournament from which the proceeds go to benefit programs sponsored by Horizon House, a non-profit organization that provides residential, vocational, educational, and day treatment services to people with low incomes, mental illness, drug and alcohol addictions and homelessness issues.
